EFCT Online Externship

The first level of EFCT training is the 4 day Externship and I will be one of the trainers leading this course that will be led by the British EFT Centre  BEFT).

When: April 27th – 28th and May 7th – 8th, midday to 7.30 pm British time

Cost: from £700, with lower fee Widening Participation places also available for those who meet our criteria.

This is the first level of formal training in EFCT and is an immersion into the principles, processes and practice of EFCT with the opportunity to work with all 4 of the Britain based EFT trainers over the 4 days: Sandra Taylor, Helene Igwebuike, Sarah McConnell and Robert Allan.

By the end of the Externship, participants will:

  • Obtain a clear understanding of the fundamental concepts of an “Emotionally Focused” approach to therapy.
  • Be able to view clients in the web of their interpersonal attachments and conceptualise relationship distress and repair based on theories of attachment and emotion.
  • Take account of the impact of discrimination and oppression on individuals and their relationships, including distress and resilience.
  • Develop skills in sharing and maintaining an engaged, open and collaborative alliance with clients
  • Develop skills in the 5 moves of the basic macro-intervention, the EFT Tango – in order to change patterns of affect regulation, models of self and other, strategies for engaging others and interactional patterns.
  • Develop skills in EFT micro interventions
  • Participants will develop skills in overcoming common blocks and impasses in couple therapy and so shape core corrective emotional experiences.

Participants:
You are eligible to apply if

  • You are a member of a recognised counselling / professional mental health organisation or a student on a substantial counselling/mental health course and​
  • You want to develop your understanding of Emotionally Focused Therapy, particularly in relation to working with couples.
